Monday 6th January - We've Arrived

Monday 6th Jan We are here at Bangkok airport, the taxi we booked on the internet was waiting for us... I like this web thing.... makes it all so much easier. It took 45 minutes to get to Bangkok and another 45 to do 2 miles to the hotel. Absolute bedlam. The taxi driver told us this is the same every day. They are all mad! Anyway we got to our hotel about 6pm, The Aurum River Place. What a little gem we found, again on the internet, I'm warming to all this technology. A little oasis in the madness. Right on the Chaopraya River, down an alleyway that you wouldn't want to walk down without knowing where you were going. Lovely and really nice people. Absolutely knackered,but they recommended a bar and restaurant just down the road. The Arun Restaurant was on the first floor and you climbed up some steep steel steps to the Amorosa Bar on the terrace. Fabulous views across the river to Wat Arun, then fab Thai food downstairs. The first beer was wonderful.
