Scotland here we come

Wednesday 5th February

So where too, today... unfortunately when we awoke it was raining, so we decided to move on down to the bottom of Sound Island, Invercaghill. The mountains were moody as we left Te Anau, grey with low cloud and rain. We drove passed Fanghorn Forest and the Dead Marshes (Lord of the Rings) towards  clouds breaking up ahead. As soon as we hit the coast the sun came out, but there was a cold wind.

Bare coastline and massive beaches, surfing territory me thinks.

We stopped in a hamlet (can't describe it as even a village called Orepuki, mainly to go to the loo. This place had a few houses, a garage and a pub. Outside the pub there was a line of beautiful classic cars, obviously out on a rally. What a bizarre scene.

We drove in to Invercagill to see what was there. Decided there wasn't much to see and drove out again. We are now in a small van park 5kms outside.

Really nice place, we've got our own alpacas  (George and Mildred)  and sheep next to us, a rampant goat (Arthur) who keeps head butting everything he sees, and chicken stalking us, we found it in the van, must have jumped in whilst we weren't looking. You have to be careful of the wildlife around here.  We have huge barn to cook and sit in, and we look out onto lovely countryside. What more could you want.
