The Catlins

Friday 7th February

We reluctantly left our camp in Invercargill and headed down the coast towards the The Catlins, a special area along the coast towards Dunedin.

Our first stop was Waipa point lighthouse, which took us down a very bumpy gravel road, glad we've got very thick tyres.  At the end was a Lighthouse of course, but also a mammal sanctuary where we saw lots of Sea lions.

From there we stopped to see the Petrified Forest in Waikaw/Curio Bay, and then onto the Macleans Falls, which were very impressive

That was about it, we stayed at the falls van park which was okay, but nothing special.  But a gentle day had by all.
