We woke to a grey and blustery day, not the best one for sailing back through the sound, but by the time we left Picton at 2, the wind had dropped. It was a calm crossing, evening if the views weren't magnificant.... we had that on the first journey.
Our last few of South Island
We had booked into the Wellington Waterfront campervan park, and the map said it was 200m from the ferry. I didn't know quite what to expect, but it turned out to be a carpark on the front. On one side is was slap bang in town, on the other it felt like camping in a Tesco's carpark with people wandering through.
Well you have to try it once!
Our first task was to seek out The Black Dog Brewery, slap bang in the centre of town. I think it was Soody who recommended it, thanks it was a great night. We chatted with the brewer master and also one of the Tui reps (owns the brewery), and someone who works for the Wellington Rugby team, she offered us tickets for the next match in March, unfortunately we don't think we will be down in Wellington at the time. Also offered tour of the Tui brewery up north, really kind to offer.
Rod worked his way through a tasting board of beers.... and they were quite strong. We ended up having kebabs on the way home, his chicken mine falafel, and have to admit they were gorgeous.
We walked back on the waterfront back to the car park.
We saw our yacht in the harbour waiting for us..... No it was just a dream
Of course the more Rod drinks, the more he gets the munchies ... and he's bad enough when he's sober :) :) :)
